Helping Young People Improve
Their Perspective of the World and Their Place in It
How it Works
Using short and compelling narrations of global good news, Good News Good
Planet Schools communicates how there is so much good happening in the world.
It inspires kids to identify issues that matter to them and see themselves as the
problem-solvers who are a powerful part of the solutions needed in their world.

How it Works
- Within the provided curriculum, teachers have a wide
selection of activities for sixth to twelfth grades. - The curriculum is designed to fit in as part of the teachers’
current course work and not in addition to it. - If you are outside of New Mexico, we can work with you
to align the program to your state’s already existing
learning standards. - The capstone of the program is the presentation of
a final Service-Learning Project that students design
and implement. - Completion of the program includes the sharing of
students’ work with GNGP Schools, for which we will
provide a personal DropBox folder. - This is a flexible and customizable program. We understand
that the teachers’ time for planning and implementation
is precious. - Time commitment is anywhere from two to three weeks,
to a full semester. - We Pay Teachers! Participants can apply to become
Service-Learning Ambassadors. This is a bonus program
to share their student’s work with the world. GNGP Schools will
offer $595 for their extra participation. Contact us for more
information.
- There are two ways to get the program:
- Ask your school director to purchase it.
- Get on our list to be a grant recipient.

The Course
- The course begins with a pre-assessment questionnaire to
determine the students’ awareness of issues in their
community and around the world. - The students listen to 2-minute audio stories of good news
from four categories: Animals, Earth, Inventions and People.
There are currently 80 stories to choose from. - PDF worksheets guide teachers to choose objectives that
work best for their students for class discussions, reports,
and other creative projects on the stories. - PDF worksheets guide teachers through the final objective,
which is the design and presentation of a “Service-Learning
Project” created by the kids. This can be one project done by
the whole class, or numerous projects done by multiple
groups of students. - The course finishes with a post-assessment questionnaire to
determine how the students’ knowledge of local, national,
and global issues has changed. - We have seen tremendous progress in student attitudes and
participation as they and their teachers are inspired and
empowered by this revolutionary program!
